As a kid... I absolutely loved going to yard sales.
Course... I think alot if it had to do with the "thrill of the hunt"... looking for buried treasure and such.
I could always find something I could use... or make into something else... or find something that was just plain awesome.
I also got my dad addicted to going... and we had tons of fun going places... driving down some obscure dirt road to an old farmhouse... digging thru musty boxes... old tobacco cans of buttons... vintage linens...
Over the years... I stopped going.... mostly due to the fact that I just didn't need to be getting any more "stuff".... and money was tight. I also had tried my hand at having a yard sale on several occasions... and I am just no good at it. I tend to give everything away... missing the entire "let's make some money" aspect of it all.
Anyway.
This weekend was the designated "neighborhood yard sale" time here... and tons of people were having their hand at unloading their stuff. And so... after only an hour or so of sleep ( I just couldn't sleep for some reason)... the daughter and I headed out for Starbuck's (ya gotta have coffee)... the ATM (ya gotta have cash)... and ran the circuit.
We listened to music... chatted away about everything... and thought alot about my father... and how he would be having a ball right along with us.
We scored. We scored in some major ways.
We got a few interesting movies.... some cds.... some cool books!... some vintage (and not so vintage) toys that I hope to use in art projects... some 1960's paint by number paintings!... and so much more.
We came home tired... a bit sun-burnt.... but happy.
