Well… another year is almost done. It’s been a year full of joy and sorrow…. chaos and peace. I hope you have enjoyed my daily photo project. I look forward to creative endeavors in the new year. I hope this coming year is full of travel, health, peace, happiness, good food… good company… books, art, puppies and fun. And also to you….

Initially, we were planning on leaving today… but we decided to stay an extra day. The prices are much more affordable off season…. and it seemed like the right thing to do. That said… this am we saw dolphins!!! from the room!
Today it was really overcast/ foggy/ rainy.... basically... perfect. Took a goodly nap... walked with the pup. Went to Duck Donuts!!! Which was amazing... Jim had the Peanut Butter Paradise (left) and I had the Maple Bacon (right)... incredible!!!
For an early dinner... Jim and I went to The Atlantic on Pacific. This is a truly incredible restaurant/ bar/ oyster house within walking distance of the beach and our hotel.
Everything was beyond perfect! The atmosphere was great... our server, Stephanie, was wonderful, and the food was CRAVE-able. Jim had their specialty "Griddle Burger" and fries. I had an appetizer of baked Oysters (with bacon, parmesan, cream cheese, bread crumbs), a glass of Riesling wine (or 2), and an entree "Broiled Chesapeake Crabcake" with a chilled broccoli salad (SOOOO very good). This is the perfect DATE restaurant.. and would be a local go-to if we lived here. Simply awesome.
It’s been a glorious trip. Truly.

...can't sleep, hungry, over-tired.
I think it's all part of the de-stressing process...
So I edited a photo from yesterday... and snuggled the pup.
Then the sunrise… and it was glorious!
Today was a mix of resting… taking short walks… and just lazing about. We had a late lunch/ early dinner at a place called Catch 31, right on the boardwalk. It was excellent! Kinda posh… but the staff were nice, and the food was good. From there, we went to Starbuck’s for a hot drink…. and then to a cute little jewelry shop where Jim got me a couple wonderful silver bracelets and a charm to commemorate the trip. ZeeZe is going well… and loves to walk beachside and sniff all the things there are to sniff.

First FULL DAY of vacation!… and I guess my body freaked out because I didn’t sleep well, and have had a migraine. But. It is glorious!!! We have an incredible view from our room…. and watched the sunrise this am.
After a good breakfast, a walk, and a nap… we headed for a walk along the boardwalk to the statue of King Neptune. It was neat seeing people from all over, and listen to the buskers playing the blues.
From there we went to Murphy’s Irish Pub (there is also one in Alexandria VA) for an Irish Coffee and Shepherd’s pie.
… and finally a nice walk on the beach back to our hotel. Not a busy day…. . but a truly excellent one.

For Christmas this year, the hubby and I decided to essentially forgo gifts, and we booked several days at the beach instead. So… this afternoon we packed up some stuff (and ZeeZe), and we headed for Virginia Beach! ZeeZe briefly got sick on the way, but we got some good directions, and pulled off and cleaned him (and the Jeep) up before heading onward. Traffic was a bit busy…. but when you have good tea, good tunes, and good company… it really doesn’t matter. And as of tonight; we are safely tucked into a very nice hotel, with my belly full of fish tacos and a pup at my feet, while Jim watches Dr. Who. Life is good.

—-and finishing up a couple smaller projects for a friend. She had some seashells that were mementos, that she wanted made into necklaces, and loved the idea of pairing them with some southwest Turquoise. The top one has Italian leather cording, leather spacer beads to protect the shell, and sterling silver with the turquoise. The bottom one has Greek leather cording, with leather spacers, Sleeping Beauty Turquoise and some stunning peach moonstones (and sterling). I hope she likes them!

“…we three kings….”
This week I’ve been featuring photos that are close-ups of plants and trees right here near the apartment. It’s amazing the variety of nature we have here. … and it’s glorious. Tonight Jim and I headed out to a party…. hosted by friends from work. It was a really beautiful ride out to their home in the “country”…. and to see all the holiday lights in the area.
