So. One of the folks here has a plumeria bush on their balcony... and as I was walking ZeeZe, a bloom gently floated down to me.

Inspiration from last night… and today’s finished earrings made from them. Fantastic lampwork Boro glass beads made by Theresa Jones of Albuquerque, that I bought way back in 2010…. and never used til now.
I’ve been working on clearing out some extra supplies…. beads and findings that (mostly) came with a cabinet I bought many years ago… and just have never gotten around to dealing with. It’s been awesome! And I’ve been listing lots of things on my Ebay page.

The nice thing about living in an apartment, is that it takes me only minutes to clean the entire place. When we lived in the house, because it was a small home (right around 1000 square feet) … it was easy as well. But it was an older home, so things took a bit longer sometimes. Because this is a relatively new apartment, things seems to go more smoothly. That said… somehow I broke the garbage disposal, so they are fixing it today.
I don’t talk much about politics on my blog… not sure why. I’ve always saved it for my facebook page. But I grew up in a very Republican household and area; and where we were living the past several years was an extremely pro-Trump area. I am not pro-Trump. In fact, I abhor him and his cabinet, and am completely bewildered by those who support him. I feel he is akin to the anti-christ. And yes, I am serious. In short, I am very pro-love (LGBTTQQIAAP ally). I believe we should be saving the ecology, not making it worse by the raping of the land and polluting of the air and water. I think Immigrants are what made this country a good place (diversity is good)… and we should be embracing that, instead of locking people in cages. I feel we owe a great debt to the Native Americans, and many others that we’ve done injustice to over the centuries, and it’s about time we got our act together. It’s a small world (not to quote Disney)… and we must learn to protect what few resources we have left. We have a very broken system here in the US… and we have to do some major changes. People can’t afford to eat, to live, to thrive. Housing and medication are impossible for so many. People can’t earn a living wage, let alone have the time and energy to be productive and improve on things.
I get overwhelmed by it all. There is so much that needs to be done. So many folks are hurting, so many causes need our attention…. I do what I can.. and am constantly afraid that it is not enough. I am, however, very proud of my son and daughter, who have both become very socially/ politically active and are out there kicking it. I take joy where I can…. and things like this sign (seen in a downtown cafe) are encouraging.

Been putzing around the apartment, trying to clean and organize a bit. Thankfully, the hubby took me out to dinner and then to Barnes & Noble for hot tea afterwards. This was my book stack before… and after…

So yesterday, we signed papers to sell our home in Coudersport. It is amazing to me that it sold before we even officially listed it…. this in a county where properties can sit unsold for over a year! We are so very grateful. Anyway, we had papers that needed notarized, so we went to Old Town and had it done at a UPS store (Shout out to KYLE who was amazing). .. and also got it shipped overnight back to the realtor/ lawyer. After that, we did some very minor exploring (due to my wonky ankle I can’t walk much or far) in Old Town Alexandria. There are so many awesome buildings here! We stopped in a bookstore, a Tibetan shop (mostly jewelry, but also masks, clothing and such), and then we went to Hank’s Oyster Bar. Hank’s is a swanky, upscale, local favorite. There are several of them in the area (small chain)… and they are amazing. Our waiter was fantastic… and Jim and I got to try several varieties of oysters .. something neither of us have ever had. Their whole menu was incredible. For the ‘main portion’ of our meal, I chose lobster bisque soup and a side of duck fat potatoes. Jim had the Mac N Cheese, and a side of Peel and Eat shrimp. YUM! Of course, we shared. For desert, we shared a fruit Panna Cotta with a fruit glaze. So very good.

The past couple days I have been busy gathering, photographing, and weighing lots of things to put on Ebay. I am clearing some of the things out of a bead cabinet I bought years ago. The cabinet is fantastic, and had some supplies in it when I bought it, and I will probably never use some of it… so… Ebay seemed logical. In other news… we are also signing papers on our house in Coudersport!

Today would have been my mother’s birthday… not something I realized until just now. Strange. It’s been a rough several months since she passed, and an even rougher several years leading up to her passing. It’s been quite the journey, and I’ve learned a lot.

another photo from when Jim and I went to the Alexandria National Cemetery at night. I believe this was the original “comfort station” and could hold 24 chairs and a large table. There is another building behind it, of newer brick, that is said (according to one site) to contain the kitchen, the bathroom and tool area.

I’ve been pretty immobile since hurting my ankle about 3 weeks ago. It’s been harder than I thought, and more painful than I thought. The upshot, I am not sleeping well, and I have my sleep/ awake schedule pretty messed up… and therefor, I am also not getting much of anything done. It’s frustrating, to say the least.
Tonight, Jim and I went out or dinner, and then went driving around the area, finding a cool entrance to a cemetery… so of course, we had to stop. Hence, my photo for today from the Alexandria National Cemetery.
