It’s been an interesting week.
The kids came for a visit, and gathered up a few of the things they had ‘stored’ here at the aparment, and took it back to PA with them a couple days later. It was awesome to see them… and I am constantly marveled at what good humans they are… and the mark they are leaving on this world.
It also means… that Jim and I now have the apartment ‘to ourselves’ …. so to speak. We have also gained an additional room. So. The past couple days have been spent clearing the energy… and then moving all Jim’s office type stuff from the bedroom (desk, artwork, computer, filing cabinet, sheleves, etc) into the 2nd bedroom and configuring it so it takes up roughly half of the space in there. Then, we moved all my studio stuff that has previously been occupying the ‘dining area’ section of our apartment… into the 2nd bedroom… aligning it so that it too, takes up about half of the room. And taDa…. we now have a shared office/studio space.
We also moved the dining table (which had previously been in the 2nd bedroom and was being used as sort of a worktable)… into the dining area. I have ordered 2 upholstered chairs to complement the dining table…. and plan on moving the art around a bit… but that area is on it’s way; even though it looks tragically empty at the moment.
Now. We still have a storage closet (7x6 feet?) that is (mostly) jam packed with photos/memorabilia/slides on shelves that need scanned and converted to digital files…. alot of fabric and sewing stuff in tubs….. packing materials for my Etsy shop, all my collage/paint/ craft stuff….extra art…. and my ‘cabinet of curiosities’ jars. It will take me awhile to sort thru it…. find place for some of it in the apartment….. or gift it/sell it….. but at least it will (in theory) be more managable. And hopefully, I am in the proper ‘headspace’ now to address it all and deal with it.
In other ‘news’….. it’s been raining the better part of this week (and last night we had a BIG storm and some flash flooding in some areas). —And it’s been hot & humid. Which means that the plants have been loving life. The gardenia blooms look great… and while every day I look to see if they’ve bloomed, they just keep getting bigger and bigger. So we’ll see.
—-photos below, are from my 365 project for the past week. Photo at the top of this post, is of cicada wings I’ve been gagthering in a little dish. I altered it (obviously)…. but I think it’s kinda cool.
—-also. This whole past week; metaphysically; has been a time of ‘endings’ and ‘beginnings’… which totally fits what actually happened in my life this week. Interesting how there is often synchronicity, if we take the time to look…
oh… and I made a bunch of jewelry :) see below…
